Palmer Metropolitan Airfield Project


The 6 MW Palmer Metropolitan Airfield installation is the largest Department of Energy Resources-qualified brownfield project in Massachusetts. The state remediated Palmer Airfield after 75 years of airfield operations dating back to 1920s.

The most difficult aspect of the project was the management of the site logistics. Incorporating different types of modules and implementing grounded and transformerless inverters in the same system represented a challenge for the designers and the installers. SolarBOS successfully demonstrated its deep knowledge of PV systems by providing the right electrical BOS solutions to make all pieces of the puzzle fall seamlessly into place.
